Male Alpacas in our Bloodlines

EL BELLO

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 10/15/1996
Dam PPPERUVIAN JULIA 4934
Sire PERUVIAN HEMINGWAY G171

He looks like Hemingway. He acts like Hemingway. His fleece looks like Hemingway's. And wouldn't you know it, in a class of more than 30 young white males at the first Peruvian Futurity in Scottsdale, AZ, Maggie Krieger, Julio Sumar and Jodie Sleeper placed him first and awarded him age and color championships. El Bello has an important place in our breeding scheme because he is a combination of Accoyo and Hemingway genetics. His dam Accoyo Julia is extremely dense and just 23.4 microns at 7 years old. El Bello expresses that density and his fleece exhibits exceptional brightness and consistency of crimp and staple over his entire body. Annual cutting weight 12.8 lb.

Color White
Date of Birth 6/1/1996
Dam ACCOYO PLANTEL

NWA, LTD HALDANE

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 5/17/2000
Dam PPERUVIAN ESMERALDA B4244
Sire PERUVIAN HEMINGWAY G171

A Hemingway son, Haldane will take your breath away! An outstanding example of top line genetics, his fleece is fine with an abundance of sheen and vitality, along with beautiful architecture. He is dense, has a silky soft handle and has coverage head to toe. His namesake, Roger Haldane, is the original alpaca pioneer from Australia, who selected and owned Haldane’s dam, Esmeralda (from Rural Allianza, Macusani) whom he then had mated to Hemingway. The result of this thoughtful breeding is spectacular!

PERUVIAN HEMINGWAY G171

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 1/1/1991
Dam PERUVIAN
Sire PERUVIAN ALIANZA

Hemingway's fleece is the finest on our ranch, measuring 17.8 microns with a standard deviation of 3.6 microns and a coefficient of variation of 19.1 percent when he was three years of age. Today his C of V is 15.9% which is even more remarkable since Hemingway is over twelve years old and has been shorn at least nine times. He is a big, robust male who yielded almost ten pounds of fleece from one year's growth at last year's shearing. He has over 450 cria on the ground in the U.S. and each one is spectacular. Visit the ranch and inspect the proof -- his offspring! As testament to Hemingway's influence on our breeding program the following Studmaster males, El Bello, MSA Hemingway's Tequila, NWA Haldane, and NWA Artero, are Hemingway progeny.

K-2

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 7/9/1998
Dam QUALICUM P-69
Sire UNKNOWN

This male alpaca has beautiful fleece. At seven years of age, the fleece has the tight staple structure that exhibits bundling. Very lusterous and soft, his fleece approaches the ideal and is very close to the Hemingway style fleece. Please note the picture of his fleece. K-2 was personally selected by Mike Safley, who considers his bundled fleece one of the best he has ever seen. K-2's progeny are beginning to make their mark in the show ring.

4PERUVIAN ACCOYO PACHACUTI 6011

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 1/1/1994
Dam PERUVIAN ACCOYO
Sire PERUVIAN ACCOYO

Pachacuti's fleece is dense, bright, and fine! His histogram was hard to beat at 19.8 microns, 3.9 standard deviation, and 19.7 coefficient of variation at two years of age. He has a picture perfect Accoyo head, with crimpy locks all over his big frame. Over the past few years Pachacuti's cria have been uniformly outstanding and some of the best examples of the Accoyo line born on Northwest Alpaca's ranch. His progeny Eastwinds Andino won the national yearling white championship at AOBA's National Show in Portland 2001, and Accoyo’s Sonny, a multi ribbon winner from Poplar Hill and Heart’s Desire Farm, is already working as a stud male. A female cria of his won the AOBA national fleece show in 2002.

PACIFIC CREST ACCOYO PAUL REVERE

Breed Huacaya
Color White
Date of Birth 5/10/2001
Dam 6PERUVIAN ACCOYO YEMAYA 6420 IMPR98
Sire 6PERUVIAN ACCOYO TSUNAMI 5050IMPR98

Accoyo’s legendary fine line, the B-line of animals, was never imported into the United States. Paul Revere’s sire, Accoyo Tsunami was imported in 1998. This beautiful Huacay alpaca had a soft rolling skin and a bundled fleece. His dam is an even rarer Accoyo because she is a B-line female. Both were selected by Greg Mecklem with the guidance of Don Julio. Accoyo’s Paul Revere is a little smaller than other Accoyo males but that is consistent with his B-line pedigree. The B-line animals exhibit 20% less body weight, 20% finer fleece and 20% less density. The hall mark of a B-line male is his Coefficient of Variation, or C of V. Paul Revere’s C of V was 18% (20.7 microns) at his first shearing and 20% (20.7 microns) at his second shearing. In addition, he has perfect conformation and presence.
